Photographic artist Tero Marin (MA) invites the viewer into Iceland’s mist-covered mountains, roads disappearing into snowfall, and seascapes where the horizon is almost imperceptible in his exhibition Contemplation. The works in the exhibition were photographed between 2019 and 2024 during Marin’s many photographic journeys to Iceland.

Silence has long been a central theme in Marin’s artistic practice. Over the past ten years, he has held several photography exhibitions exploring silence at the Helsinki Observatory and Porvoo Art Factory, among others. He has also presented collaborative exhibitions at Helsinki Airport and MUJI Small Gallery in Kamppi, Helsinki.

Marin’s new exhibition continues his exploration of silence while bringing contemplation alongside it – pausing, finding stillness, and being present in the moment. In the works, silence creates space to linger, to look, and to be present without haste.
